Yesterday was a super busy day.
By the time I got home from our Relief Society meeting.. and chatting with my friends in the neighborhood-- the kids were all in bed waiting for me to come and kiss them goodnight.
Dad had already tucked them in.. but they didn't want to sleep for the night without seeing their Momma.
For some reason.. my kids seem to need me more than they did when they were toddlers.
Maybe it's really the same.. but they are just more vocal about it now.
I'm not sure... but all 3 of them always want my attention.
And it's usually all at the same time.
It's makes me happy to be their Mother.
Happy that I have been blessed to fill the role that I have always desired to.
I hope that they will always want to be close to me.
They bring me happiness.
After I tucked the kids into bed... I started through the kids piles of papers from school to see what work they had done.. and of course Mary had the largest stack of papers.
She LOVES paper.
She especially loves art.
I call her my little " Hoarder" because she will literally pull anything out of the Trash or recycle bags.. and find beauty in it. Want to create something with it.
Maybe she will turn out to be an Up-cycler? lol!
While her desire to keep all paper things sounds cute.. it drives me crazy.. so I have to be extra magical in how I get rid of things with her around.
I also have been teaching her why it's important to keep some things and let go of others.
Yes.. I'm teaching my 5 year old about the benefits of de-junking.
If I always just sneak it out.. and never teach her about "too much" then she will keep the same traits as an adult. -- But there won't be a "fairy" magically throwing things away in the night.
So... we are working on it.
As I was going through her papers last night..
I find 6 letters written to her from different classmates in Kindergarten.
As I opened each letter up.. I saw simple phrases that said:
" I like You."
or
" I love you."
These sweet little letters brought a smile to my face.
Especially this one.. because it's from a cute little boy that has a crush on her.
These little letters made me think -- how wonderful it would be if we did this more as Adults..
Just like children are so eager to share their simple little thoughts --
and please someone they care about.
In a letter.. e-mail.. or by phone.
A simple.. " I love you " or " How are you" can do wonders for the soul.
I am grateful for Mary's Kindergarten teacher.
Who also taught all of my children to read and write and all other important goodness that they learn in Kindergarten..
Miss Snow is amazing.
Other fun things Mary has been doing:
Studying Utah and America.
Everyday we get all sorts of facts about Utah... and an assortment of pictures -- all about America.
I even learned something new.
Mary came home and told me that the "Cherry" was Utah's fruit.
I had no idea. ha ha
We are always learning in life... aren't we?
As I went through the papers I found this picture Mary created of The Statue of Liberty.
So... we took a picture for the memory.. and then out to the recycle bin it went.
With all of the other 34 papers.
God Bless America!
Today I am Grateful for:
A day to myself. To do what I want.
My own Family

There! You're right! It is nice to give little notes to friends. :)
p.s. Your husband is awesome to have kids in bed and house cleaned when you get home!
I am going to send a note to my one of the gals I visit teach today.
Sweetness that your Hubby cleaned the house and tucked children into bed for you.
