8 Things to Share...

This last weekend felt like an early Christmas.

The kids were home from school on Friday.. and Hot chocolate.. a warm fire in the stove and snow were abundant here at our house.

It is crazy how fast the weather changed.  We had a couple of days of short sleeves and 60-70 degree weather.. and then bam! -- tons of snow and freezing temps.

Typical Utah.

Today I want to share 8 things that we have been doing..
or what we've been thinking about over the weekend.

(1)

Before the snow came... I was able to finish painting every last piece of furniture for the store.

I even finished painting a few of my own things I plan to keep.

I found this darling cake stand and it needed some serious help.

Someone decided that they didn't like it gold -- and instead of painting it black with spray paint.. they took a black sharpie marker and tried to color it all black.

I could see it's original beauty underneath... but the outside of it.. was hideous.

So... to make it beautiful once again.. I painted it all white.

Such an easy fix.. and now it is beautiful again.  :)

For scouts last week.. we talked about family history.

You know this is super easy for me to do... and I had fun finding some simple stories of my ancestors -- to share with the boys.

As I was preparing... I walked around my house gathering a few props.. and as I grabbed my Fathers lineage photo... my heart cried a little.

Chad and I loved making these for Christmas many years ago.. and now.. everyone I was looking at in this frame...is gone from this world.

I seriously wanted to cry.  I don't know why -- certain things bring such a "grieving moment" but this one sure did.  It felt WRONG to think about my Dad gone.

I turned over the photo.. and was reading when all of the men were born and died.. and I hadn't filled my Dad's death date out yet.  I just couldn't do it before.

But.. after I came home from scouts...

I took the hard step--sat down and wrote the date of his death.

This probably sounds so lame... but it was one TOUGH task for me to do.

It's crazy when those little things come about... and hit me so hard.

Christian and Mary went out to do some sledding and play in the snow.. and the very first thing Mary did was plop down in front of my house and make a snow angel.

I am grateful they love to play in it.

Sometimes I feel guilty -- because I see other Mom's that love to be in it with their children... and my children have a Mother that wants to only see it from the window.

If I could hybernate in the winter.. I almost would.  -- Except for Christmas.

I have never enjoyed being in the cold or snow.  ~ And even sledding and Skiing are not an idea of fun for me.  I can't do those things with my back condition anyways.

I know.... I am a scrooge when it comes to Winter.  My poor kids.

Good thing my organizing hobby keeps me busy INSIDE.

Why isn't everyone watching this!?

I LOVE " Call the Midwife."

I am still amazed how much Chad and I love this show.

Now I am sad.

It feels like they only showed 5 episodes.. and now the Season is over.. and I felt so bad last night.. not being able to watch a new episode.

The first 2 episodes are the hardest and most gruesome to get through.. and then the characters and story come to life... and I feel like I am friends with these Nuns and Nurses.

Do I think it's as good as Downton?  No.. but it is fabulous!

Sad it is over until next Season!

(5)

Speaking of Downton.....

Many of my family members and friends -- have cheated and watched Season 3 on-line while it has been airing in the UK.

While I have NO problem with anyone cheating and watching it early.. I DO feel bad that 3 of my friends decided to discuss it -- and not warn us with spoilers on Facebook.

I know the spoilers were probably not malicious or intentional.. but I felt so bad.

I honestly hoped to cheat, and watch it early also... but because I am just too busy... there has been NO extra time to watch it.

I have 27 episodes of Doctor OZ still to see... and all of the regular shows that Chad and I watch.. and we are so behind ( only watching one a night ) I think I will likely be watching Downton in January at it's appointed time for the US.

Now..after hearing the spoilers and the ending... my desire to see it early is gone.

And I was in a unhappy mood about it.

Ya.. the election week was a tough one.  Downton Abby spoiled... and Romney lost.

 Boohoo.

Another show Chad and I have enjoyed this year is Revolution.

It has made my desire to be more prepared -- taken up to a whole new level.

It's quite fascinating to see a world like ours we are living in--with zero electricity.

How the militia's form.. and what is taken away from the people.

3 things about the characters and show.

1- I still want to call the Uncle Milo -- Charlie.  ~ And he is still Bella's Dad in my mind.
But.. now he is helping his Niece.. on Revolution -- who is also named Charlie?? Weird.  Ya.. some characters people play -- tend to stick with them.. and Charlie Swan is that way with this show.
I like him.. he'll just always be "Charlie" to me.

2- The Militia guy TOTALLY reminds me of Obama.
They may not look identical.. but it is so him to me.
I won't list the reasons here.. to avoid talking bad of my President of the U.S.

3- Watch it.  It's good entertainment.. and you'll want to be more prepared in your life. = Win.

Christmas came early to Chad and I.

The very day that the new Windows Nokia 920 phones were released.. they were delivered to our doorstep.
See.. Chad is a Computer Programmer.. and is VERY anti-everything apple.. and does a TON of research on any and all technology.. and he has been reading all reviews on phones like crazy.
For months.

He liked the Windows phone reviews.

We love our new mini-computers phones!

I thought they would be more complicated that they are.

I can text!  I can text!  I can text!

( Chad's black one on the left and my white one on the right )
Not a very good picture.. but you can see what they kinda look like..

Many of our friends have teased us -- and welcomed us to 2012 -- because of our purchase.
We both have never texted.. and we haved shared one small cell phone before this.

While I am excited to be current with technology.. I can't help but be worried about it too.

Worried about many things -- among them...time spent/wasted on it.

We are establishing rules.. and contracts for our family.

I feel passionate about protecting my family -- the best way I can.. and I hope that this will be a tool used for good.. and not one for evil.

My friend Marianne told me about an App ( Whatsapp ) that will allow me to text my friends from different countries for free.  This makes me too excited.

And will be oh-- so convenient.

E-mail me your number if you want to be texting buddies!  ( and if I know you. ) ha ha

Today I am Grateful for:

Time.  I cherish it.

Seeing " Skyfall" this weekend with Chad, Mom and Erin.  LOVED it.  Go and see it.

4 more days until Breaking Dawn 2.  ~ And the last Twilight movie/party.  Can't wait to see some family and friends -- I haven't seen in a long time.

Patience, understanding, forgiveness and Love.
People often need it -- that are friends with me.  I am sorry to my friends that I have hurt or offended with my differing politics and/or opinions.  You know I am very opinionated and passionate about everything that I love.  Often times I speak before I think about what I am saying that may seem hurtful to you.  If I have hurt you.. I apologize.  I love my friends.

Going to church yesterday.  I always feel uplifted.. my soul fed.. and comforted when I attend.

That cake plate is so pretty. You did a great job with it.

I don't really like playing in the snow and the cold either. Actually I really hate it and avoid it as much as I possibly can. I try to delegate it to Peter. :)

Yeah, the Downton spoilers have been a bummer. For me they happened on Pinterest. I don't know everything that happens, but I think I know most of the big things. Boo to that! I still can't wait to see it in January though.

Revolution--Yes! Such a good show!

Your phone is beautiful!
My hubs hates the iThings as well. Me, I'm in love with my iPhone, but he is constantly mocking me.

Love the cake stand. Too cute. You should show pictures of your finished projects.

I haven't seen Revolution. I'll have to give it a try.
I have missed the last two episodes of The Midwife. Looking forward to a minute to watch.

Have a great week.

I don't like being overheated and sweaty in our desert summers, but I don't like being cold either! I pretty much want perfect weather - really, is that too much to ask? ;)

I still have a simple and outdated phone - it's cheap to maintain, yay! It will stay with me as long as it lives!
