Visiting Teaching is an opportunity in our church to care and watch over each other.
Why do sisters do Visiting Teaching?
Mosiah describes it in this way:
To bear one anothers burdens.... to mourn with those that mourn,
yea and comfort those that stand in need of comfort.
( Mosiah 18: 8-9 )
Because women have such nurturing and compassionate hearts.. this is a great way to all look after each other in our church.
Most women in our church are asked to watch over, strengthen and teach 2-5 women that live in their area at least once a month.
The purpose is to help each other, offer comfort, support and friendship.
They bring meals to Mothers with New babies, Help in times of stress and sickness.. they sometimes bring treats, and pretty much all types of service is rendered.

Yesterday... my Visiting teachers came to visit me.
I adore these 2 amazing/angelic Women: Julie and Miriam.
When I had Gall Bladder Surgery a few years ago.. Julie brought me a smoothie.. and Miriam made me a Brazilian drink she was sure would fill me with lots of nutrients.
They stood by my bed and asked me what they could do.. and I felt their true compassion.
Miriam is from Brazil.. and when she has cooked for us ( which has been many times ) the family is always more than thrilled.
These women have been with me through most of my hard trials in life -- visiting me faithfully for about 5 years.. and I feel very close to them. They are good friends to me.
When my Dad was diagnosed with Cancer.. I spent many visits just crying to them.
It was very therapeutic.. and comforting to have them cry with me.
Then.. after my Dad passed away.. Julie has been of great comfort to me.. as she is a widow ....and has given me much comfort and good insight to being able to "press on" after the death of a loved one --when some days you really don't want to.
I personally think the Lord knew the trials I would go through.. and how these 2 women would be able to advise me and love me through them.
When they come over to visit..my kids always want to come in and show off or play "show and tell" to these adoring women--and so I usually have to have Chad keep them entertained in the other room.. so I can have some one on one time visiting quietly.
Me time.
I have realized.. it's therapy for me right now.
Yesterday... Julie and Miriam came over.. and I felt like a volcano erupting.
I just talked and talked and cried a little even.
So much going on in my life.
Poor Julie and Miriam.
I have LOADS of friends that I can call anytime and do this to.. but for some reason.. when they come over.. all of my thoughts come spilling out.
And Julie and Miriam sit patiently and listen.
And they bring always bring a lesson.. and comforting words.
And each month... they keep on coming.. and sitting with me -- helping me bear my burdens.
After they left my house yesterday.. I shut the door and felt so much gratitude that these women are in my life. I said a quick prayer-- thanking the Lord that they are with me.. at this time.
Surely.. Angels do surround me.
Today I am Grateful for:
Friendships
Date night with Chad

I'm glad you have more than one type of angels watching over you. Thank heaven for those good women - and all the others who have blessed you during this difficult year.
You have been blessed with wonderful friends/visiting teachers. They sound like the perfect example of how that program should work!
I commend you for giving them the opportunity to serve. I'm really bad about that. I love when mine come over but if I'm in need of something, I don't save it for them, I unload it all on my hubby!
Poor man!
Mom- I love you! Saimi- Oh.. I unload it all on my hubby too. My poor Chad. He knows what to do most of the time.. but I think he welcomes my friends too-because he needs a break ( I'm sure ) and knows I need it...
Such a great post! I love the VT program too.
Visiting teaching is a great program. I have a strong testimony of all of the good that it does. Your visiting teachers sound amazing!

Sounds like they are truly angels.
I've had a hard time getting out this month, and I'm completely inspired!
I'd love to attend your blogging get together. My daugter inlaw to be is going to the temple her first time Saturday evening.
Have a great day!
I'd love to be as good of a visiting teacher as they are! I truly love the sisters I visit, but there is always room for improvement!
