Puzzles.
They are my go to when I hear " I'm bored."
We can do them as a family.. and there is one for everyone.
Whether they have an easy 24 pieces... or a more difficult 2000 pieces... it's fun to tackle something.. and feel a sense of pride and accomplishment after.
Sometimes we have "puzzle races." -- Of course everyone is always a winner here.
One thing that can be frustrating.. is keeping puzzles together.
What else is frustrating?
Doing an entire puzzle.. and when you get down to the last 2 pieces.. they are missing.
That alone can ruin your whole day.
Just kidding.
Not the whole day... but maybe the moment.
So... how do we become less "frustrated?"
Do the edges first. that always helps me. :)
But really....
Your puzzles can have order.
Not necessarily how they are stored:
( although I love mine in a filing system because they are easy to retrieve and put away )
-- but I am talking about when you clean up a room... and you find that dreaded lonely puzzle piece that somehow didn't make it back in the box.
If you only own 1 or 2 puzzles... it's probably not very hard to figure out where it goes.. but if you are like my family.. and we own about 50 puzzles.. then "hunting" for the home of a missing piece can be daunting. ~ Especially if it's a picture of Donald Duck.. and you own 5 Donald Duck Puzzles.
So.. how to make life easier with puzzle pieces?
I got this idea from my Mother.
When I was little.. we owned many a puzzles... and my Mom would always mark the back of the puzzle pieces right after we opened it.
We even helped mark each piece sometimes... because it was fun.
This can be a task you can do while watching TV or etc.. and it is SOO nice to have done.
Because we have 5 Donald Duck puzzles... I put DDB ( For Donald Duck Bull ) and then wrote it on the inside of the box as well. It is so nice to know what piece goes to what!
And if you have a very LARGE puzzle with very small pieces.. you can just use a symbol such as * or ♥ for each piece.
If it makes you cringe to write on a puzzle-- because you are a collector.. and you just know this puzzle is going to not be worth millions one day... then don't.
You can take the chances.
Enjoy a puzzle today!
PS: If you are de-junking puzzles.. make sure all pieces are there if you send it to the thrift store.
If it has a missing piece that cannot be found.. toss it in the garbage!

I think only you would be so organized in your puzzles. But I do like the labeling the back of them.
I never thought of that! What a great idea! Your mom taught you a lot about organizing, didn't she?
What GREAT ideas!
Just look at those puzzles all neat and organized!
We're a puzzle family too, this year for New Years eve we gathered around the table and put together a puzzle in the dark wearing our headlamps! HA Crazy I know but fun!!
I can't tell you how many closets I have where I am scared of an avalanche. Your organization is impressive!
What a great idea!!! Loved chatting with you the other night!
Those are really good ideas. When we start using our puzzles more often I might have to label the pieces like that. I like how you keep them in the filing cabinet too. That's a good simple good way to store them!
Barry and I did about 4 puzzles last winter, but we haven't done any this winter.
and....like you mentioned, it seemed with EVERY puzzle a couple of pieces seemed to disappear. And they were brand new????
We blame it on the dog.
My mom is a huge puzzler. I never could get into them. I think I am too impatient and get bored too easily. But great organizing tips
Great puzzle idea!

Hope your weekend is a good one.
