Happy Changes to the Girls Room

We have been hoping to buy Mary Caroline a big girl bed for over 6 months now.

In that time.. Tenney has also been *begging* each day to get her new bed frame up.

I kept dragging my feet.

I looked for a matching headboard for Mary for a few months.. and nothing.

So... this last weekend... we decided to make many changes... and finish the room as we can later.

This was the girls room before.  It looks so cluttered to me now.
-- Even though Tenney always kept it clean. :)

In order to fit 2 twin beds in the room... the furniture was all going to have to go.  Tenney was a little sad to lose the Vanity/Desk.... but I made it work -- after all... and she doesn't miss it one bit!

This is where Mary Caroline slept.  She was almost as big as the entire bed!
She was SUPER excited to go from a toddler bed to........

Her VERY own BIG GIRL BED!!!

She was soooo darling on Saturday night telling Chad and I how "comfortable" it was.
She had a perma grin on her face the entire time.  -- Probably even when she was sleeping.

I bought both of the girls the Shabby Chic Comforter Sets from Target... and they have not been a disappointment.  The material is soft and cozy.  We also sold their dressers... and bought these 2 very tall white ones.  Having 2 girls together in a room.. they need lots of clothes space.

You can also see Mary's headboard is actually the "foot board" to Tenney's.  We didn't want any fits or tantrums.. so we did this until I find a good headboard for her.  We also plan to re-paint the room and add one more piece of furniture later on.

This is Tenney's bed.  Isn't the Headboard darling??
I wish I could have a King Size for me.

I switched out the other nightstand for this one with two drawers.. and we will paint it white in the summer.

We de-junked a lot more of the room.  I was surprised at how much the girls let go because they wanted the "change" so much.
I am pretty sure this Cinderella shelf is more for me... than the girls.  ♥

I found these drawers at Target for $24.99 when I picked up the comforters.. and I almost did a happy dance in the store!  I have never seen the 2 top shelves small like that on the top.. and I KNEW exactly that it was the perfect "house" for what I needed!!!

Now all of the Excess Hair flowers have a very functional and happy space!
Very easy to retrieve... and easy to put away... and it's shallow enough to not get lost.
GREAT space!!!  I am so happy!

2nd drawer down houses the bows.  Same SUPER easy access.

The last 2 drawers hold Tenney's Vanity stuff  -- Headbands, ponytails etc.

We also have these up on the wall.

Can you believe how much hair stuff we have?  I even de-junked some.
But we love it... and after they get too old to wear them.. we can change this to a magnet board or a jewelry board.

I just put a cute frame on it.. to make it look like "Art."

Even though I am SUPER happy about all of the space.. and changes.
I admit... it was hard to see the Barbie house move out... the Toddler bed go.. and the room change... because it's forcing me to remember that my babies are all growing up.

And there is nothing I can do about stopping that.

Today I am Grateful for:

Selling their old furniture so quickly.  Yay for KSL!
Chad commenting last night on how good the room looks.
Organizing classes each week that are keeping me busy.
Chad re-doing my blog template.  He is amazing and patient!
Children that are all HAPPY to go to bed.

The change is amazing! I can see why the girls are happy! I like the the Cinderella shelf. Are these vintage records?
It must have been a lot of work, but you did a good job.
Hugs,
Marianne.

So nice!!! I am salivating over your furniture...as always. LOL. How do you find such cute stuff at decent prices? I just came up with the "perfect" decorating idea for our guest room... but stopped myself quickly with the old "but what if we have another baby? We will need that room!" So it will remain undecorated. LOL.
