Flashback Friday - Grandpa Tenney

For Flashback Friday this week... I want to show a few pictures of my Grandpa Tenney -- in honor of him turning 90 years old this weekend.

You know I love me some old pictures....

Isn't my Grandpa a Foxy pilot?

I love that Grandpa was always a good man.

Grandpa and some of the other PBY pilots on Green Island.

Grandpa has always been a keen storyteller.. and I have always enjoyed hearing stories about the war... when he and my Grandmother met each other... and stories of my 3rd Great Grandfather Jacob Hamblin who was a peacemaker between the Native Americans and the White men.

Grandpa had a grand way of presenting the stories-- as if we were there.

Grandpa and Grandma Tenney on their Honeymoon in Oakland.

One of my favorite pictures.

You can see the happiness and love that they feel for each other...

Every time we are with Grandpa.. he is always talking so highly still of his "Beautiful Bride."

They have always been incredible examples to me of how to treat your companion...

Grandpa and my Uncle Mike.

Grandpa was always so smart.. and when we were little he was always "testing our skills" with games... especially ones to do with problem solving or some sort of math.

He would say something to the effect of:

2x2+20-19x34+30-11+39x3=   and we would have to "think" it as fast as he said it.  No paper allowed.. and we had to answer VERY quickly.

I always hated that game.

But.. it makes me smile.. because it is sooo Grandpa.

Whenever I go and see Grandpa now... he always says " How is that cute little Tenney?"
" Is she just as smart as ever? "

And he always has a hug and kiss for each of us.

Grandpa is so predictable.

He smiles with his eyes and has a genuine love for people.

He always smells like onions and garlic.. and gets a big smile on his face when he talks about his family, San Diego, Nati's Mexican restaurant and  Dark Chocolate Sees Candy.

I LOVE Grandpa much.. and feel blessed to be his posterity.

♥♥♥

Today I am Grateful for:
