Welcome December & Random Thoughts

Welcome December.....

Where the heck have I been???

Probably like most of you.... BUSY.

Things have been going well here.

Dad's Birthday was a happy day... and I have felt surprisingly more comfort than I thought I would during the season so far.

We had a crab fest for dinner.. and I decided if food is in Heaven.. crab is there.

I ended the evening at the Temple.. and the day felt good.

********************

THOUGHTS AND HAPPENINGS THIS PAST WEEK

1- I am almost finished Christmas shopping... and it is thrilling.
I think I am more excited this year for my kids.. than past years.

***
2- I WONDER all of the time why I feel extra comfort with Dad lately?

Is it from prayers?

Has he been with me more?

I wonder how much Dad is with us... as I am sure he's busy!

***
3- Dad gets a Headstone today.  I am going to check it out.

I went to the cemetery for his birthday last week.. and had a hard time finding the grave... and then had an emergency.. and couldn't stay long.  Let me just say that NOT having a porta-potty in a cemetery is a HUGE oversight.

I thought about writing Taylorsville City to tell them of this problem.

SERIOUSLY.. when it is an EMERGENCY.. where do you go?

Not on the ground.. as isn't it holy?

I wish I could blog this whole story.. but I will spare you with the TMI details.. but it is funny.

It added some humor to the day.

***

4- I finished Decorating for Christmas.. and it took me 8 days to decorate.
NOT because I have too much to put out.. but because I had so much going on.. I had to keep putting it aside.

-- That in itself has made me stressed... because of the lack of order in those 8 days.
I told Chad " I love decorating.. but hate the "in between mess."

I could try to find a solution.. but it's probably good for my OCD.

***

5- Chad had a TERRIBLE Gall Bladder attack that had him sick for 2 days.
I have a feeling that there will be a Surgery to ring in the new year...

***

6-  Because I am married to a Computer Programmer.. I have a whole entire house full of wires, computers.. and server box things I have no idea how to run.  -- So without trying to sound techno-savvy.. I will just say that we have some cool program thing called "Play On" that is what I would think to be similar to Netflix.  It is filled with old shows I used to love and adore.

Tenney and the kids can't get enough of Bewitched.. and I am all about the Love Boat.

Remember this show?  Yes.. I like me some cheese.. and I enjoy these old shows from the 80's.

Who doesn't want to relax and watch people go on a cruise and come back with their problems solved?  haha.. Chad and I make up commentary all through it.. and it's fun.

These old shows bring me comfort.

Maybe because they are from my childhood.. but they are definitely like comfort food.
It's funny that these were shows that some kids couldn't watch when we were younger --And now... how weird that they are the"clean" shows compared to what is out now...

***
7-  Speaking of cheese... I also have had Chad record all of those "Hallmark ---made for TV Christmas shows"  I get all wrapped up in their cheese.. and I admit.. I likey.

***
8- I don't have my Christmas cards made.. and I am stressing.
Next year I need to be ready by Thanksgiving.  Noted.

***
9- Our last sheets ripped on our bed.. so I was able to use an "early" Christmas present before Christmas.
Am I a snob that I bought 800 thread count sheets?  Chad and I sure love them.  Does anyone else buy a high thread count that's willing to admit it?  They are UH-MAZING.

***
10- My heart has been heavy this past week.  My good friend Leah gave birth to a very premature sweet baby boy at only 25 weeks.  Our entire family has been praying so much for them.. and it kills me that I can't be in Tennessee to hug Leah..and be there for her.  Since Dad's death.. I have noticed that I seem to FEEL much deeper for people than I did before.
I love her.. and feel for her.... almost in a Sacred way.

If you can remember.. please keep Liam Wampler and the whole Wampler family in your prayers.

I KNOW firsthand the strength of prayers.

Today I am Grateful for:

A fireplace and furnace in my home to keep me warm in these FREEZING temps.
Yummy soups on the menu during these cold months
Lots of Holiday Gatherings planned
Comfort in multiple ways
The Christmas Season

You have been busy! I hope you'll give a holiday "tour" of the house. I love seeing decorations.
I don't have mine up yet. I should get busy on that.

I'm glad you have felt comfort during your dad's birthday and this season. Such a tender mercy.

Yay for old shows. They totally rocked. I remember my aunt thinking that Love Boat was totally scandalous. Now I laugh at it, cuz you can't even watch commercials now.

Hope you are having a wonderful week!

I was so excited to see your post today!! I don't know why, but I am!! Well, yes, I know why, cause I love ya so dang much!

Sounds like you had a wonderful birthday for your dad. Good for you! I am so happy to hear that you celebrated all the things that he loved in his earthly life. I bet he loved that too!

My heart goes out to Leah! We will pray for her and her family.

Love Boat? For some reason my head keeps thinking of Fantasy Island. Da Plane! Da plane! LOL! I too am on a Halmark Christmas kick. I really liked Mrs. Miracle. Check it out if you haven't already.

I hope you have a lovely day and I know I think of you often and I love ya! -Suzanne

Busy busy! I had to smile about the cemetery as this same thing happened to me - but it was just a few days prior to giving birth and well lets say my toddlers thought it was funny that mommy had an accident too!

Hope you have a great holiday!

Some good random thoughts there. I think probably your dad "is with you" at this time, as Christmas is so Packed with EMOTION, and everything is heightened, he probably just wants to help you out there. my opinion.
I know EXACTLY all your feelings about being at the cemetary, and I was SO HAPPY when Matt got his headstone. Gave me a lot of comfort.
Glad you are enjoying your decorations and that they make you happy.
I enjoy some of the old shows too.
Big hug today sweety

LOL and AMEN to the no potty in the cemetary thing! We felt that accutely when we drove several hours to a WY cemetary for hubby's grandma in May... with a 4 year old and a very pregnant Mommy... no potty there! Huge oversite.

It took Kurke and I a week to decorate our house last week because of the same thing. We were just busy so we worked on it when we could and finally got it done - it felt good :-D'
We are total sheet snobs and not afraid to admit it. My bed is my favorite place in the whole world and part of the reason is that it feels so good!
LOVE LOVE LOVE the Loveboat!!

Crab is definately heavenly food!!
Sigh....I could eat it every day.

Glad your Dad's headstone will be put up today. I am sure you all have been waiting for it.

{{Hugs}}} and have a great day!

We are putting up the tree tonight. I am not looking forward to it. The house is a mess afterwards. Maybe you can show us some pics of your decoration.
And also of your dad's headstone.
I had a good weekend and birthday. Nice and quiet LOl
I am glad you feel a bit better!
Hugs,
Marianne.

Funny how I was never allowed to watch Love Boat, Fantasy Island, or Threes Company, and now looking at them compared to what is really out there now, they are mildly tame!

I haven't done any decorating. I just cant bring myself to do it. And strangely, I'm totally okay with it too.

Wonderful post! Thank goodness your emergency was resolved! :)

And I'm so grateful you're feeling more comfort during this time of year.

I also love cheesy hallmark Christmas movies and I'm pretty sure "Love Boat" would make me happy too. It's been years since I've watched that!

Sending prayer for that sweet little baby and the family.

I bet your house looks amazing! You always do such a great job at decorating!

Life gets so crazy around this time of year.

I am glad you had a good day on your Dad's birthday. I am glad you went to the temple.

I too have had a heavy heart for Leah and her family. I think it is wonderful you put it on your blog. The more prayers the better. I love you.

Would you believe I got the idea for Lauren's name from Lauren Tewes, the actress on Love Boat?

Cuz it's the truth! Ha!

"The Love Boat...soon will be making another run..."
