In May when Dad became too sick to get dressed in anything but Pajamas anymore.... my Mom gathered his denim jeans in a pile.. and asked if anyone wanted any.
None of the boys wore the same size Dad did.. and no one was claiming them... so I immediately knew they needed to come home with me.
I am just too sentimental for my own good.
I told my Mom I had a talented friend (Deanne) that made Blankets, backpacks, and pillow cases all from old jeans. They were awesome.. and I would ask her if I could pay her to make me some.
The amazing thing about the story... is the very night that I came home after talking with my Mom, there was an e-mail from my friend Deanne asking me if there was something she could do for me.. and even mentioned that she would be happy to do a quilt or something for me.
She wanted to give me some of her time for service.
I couldn't believe my eyes!!
I cried.
How did she know I was even thinking about it???
I know.
And I am grateful for all of the many friends that have acted on promptings from the spirit... and have shown me love and charity in many different ways.
Deanne went to work. I can't believe how fast she did it all.
I chose hearts so I could remember that this quilt was all about LOVE.
Love for my Dad... Love from a Talented friend.
How Sappy am I????
She made it a lap quilt.. and I was in heaven!
I love blankets with weight... and this was WARM!
Perfect for lounging around.
Deanne didn't stop there....
She then made me a KING Size one for camping.
It is so awesome and heavy.. it's almost like lifting weights carrying it around.
I am in Love.
For the Real.
And once again... Deanne didn't stop there....
I also had Deanne make one for my Mom.
I chose "BYU" fabric.. because that is where my Mom and Dad met each other.
I was so excited for my Mom to have it.. my attempts to hold onto it until Christmas Epically failed.
I am so Grateful for Deanne.
For her willingness to share her talents with me... and to bless us with such a sentimental treasure.
Today I am Grateful for:
Service.
Laughter.
Happy People.
Warmth.
All went great with my Organizing class last night. . I felt rejuvenated helping others get excited to "simplify" and get their spaces in order.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! I LOVE IT! I LOVE IT! I LOVE IT! That is so awesome!! What a treasure and so durable!! Wow, you will have to show me one of them one day! Deanne is a saint!! I can't even imagine how hard it is to sew through jeans. Woman needs to be taken to lunch and a huge gold medal or something!
I have been inspired. I was considering doing something for Shaeler with my old dresses and the feelings I feel now confirm that it has to be done! Woohoo!
Have an awesome day! -Suzanne
I absolutely love my quilt from her and use it daily on my bed. It is heavy and makes me feel comforted. It is a treasure.
Ann Marie, what a wonderful idea. A Quilt made of tears, desire and eternal Love.
Take care my friend.

What an awesome friend and what very neat blankets!! Full of warmth, love and meaning. I couldn't think of a more perfect thing!!
Such sweet treasures :-)
Ann, thank you for the very kind words! After a hard week in many ways, this was nice to read. I was so happy to do this small thing for you. It came at a time when I was dealing with the whole Charly's car mess- so it was a great distraction. Thank you for allowing me to do it.
all I can say is AWESOME
what a great idea....something to wrap yourself in, which depicts your dad
I remember going through some of Matt's things...
his ties comes to my mind.
I have one that I keep in my bedside table. Just something
to caress
something
what a lovely friend
I can't think of anything more awesome that those quilts. They probably are something that you can bury your face in a cry if you want to.
What a sweet friend that would do that! I'm so amazed.
They are beautiful.
What perfect gifts! When my brother passed away, my aunt suggested we turn his jeans into a quilt. I packed them in my suitcase, and eventually put a quilt together along with squares of outgrown jeans from my little girls (at the time). What a wonderful momento you now have from a very very kind friend!
That's awesome! I love it!
Oh my heck - I love it! They are prefectly beautiful!
